The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF)

The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) is a prime opportunity to amplify the voices of young people and ensure their perspectives are heard and taken into account by those at the highest levels of decision making. Convened in the week leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, it allows Commonwealth youth to build cross-cultural connections and networks; deliberate on youth-led strategies to address emerging issues impacting young people; and propose meaningful recommendations to the Heads of Government meeting.

The CYF theme will capture the aspirations and ambitions of young people and promote their involvement in devising solutions to complex global challenges and shaping a prosperous and inclusive future.

The Forum will include plenary discussions and action planning breakout sessions, focussed around CHOGM’s themes on ‘Delivering a Common Future: connecting, innovating, transforming’.

The Youth Forum incorporates the CYC General Assembly (the highest decision making gathering of young people in the Commonwealth) and elections for the nine executive positions on the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC). The CYC General Assembly enables young people to take stock of the progress of youth-led action in addressing development challenges. It is the recognised voice of over 1.2 billion young people from all across the Commonwealth, advocating on their behalf on issues such as climate change, employment, access to education and gender equality.
